The Role

We're looking for an experienced and highly motivated Business Development Manager with a technical mindset to join our Smart Home division. You will be responsible for building and managing our B2B sales strategy for our Smart Home products, including our innovative smart thermostat, Homely – which has been specifically built for heat pumps.


You will develop and manage both new and existing relationships with multiple partners, including manufacturers, distributors, and installers, to ensure that all opportunities are optimised.


Acting as the conduit between these relationships and our internal teams, you will work closely with colleagues across the business to ensure that their needs are clearly understood and managed appropriately.

You will work closely with senior management and the other divisions within the business to develop and deliver our plans and will hold responsibility for the sales budget and profitability in your area / products.


What you will be doing

You will help us to exploit our smart home innovations, and specifically our Homely product, by:

  • Developing, managing, and nurturing both new and existing B2B relationships with manufacturers, distributors, installers, and other partners to order to maximise the opportunities each presents.
  • Working closely with our commercial, product and marketing teams to develop and execute business development strategies for B2B partners.
  • Define and own the onboarding journey, working with internal colleagues to continuously improve and ensuring that all onboarding materials, training assets, guides etc are fit for purpose.
  • Owning the in-life relationship with partners – including support, reward, and recognition (loyalty programmes), problem resolution, proactively identify issues, ongoing training, and relationship management.
  • Segmenting the partner network by current and potential value and working with marketing to deliver multi-channel communications strategy for each customer type.
  • Reporting sales and partner performance in terms of volumes, forecasts, trends, complaints, and anecdotal feedback.
  • Proactively managing accounts and ensuring measures in place in order to maximise the opportunities they offer.
  • Development of the B2B proposition (segmented as required) and consistent articulation of the value partners can achieve by working with Marketing to agree on the proposition, key positioning statements and any collateral required to ensure this is effectively communicated to our partners.

We're looking for someone who can help us to drive our smart home division forwards by maximising the sales opportunities ahead, but it’s important you come with both the right attitude and the right approach to how you work.


We're looking for someone who:

  • Has a strong desire to play a key role in helping to deliver the UKs decarbonisation strategy.
  • Can demonstrate proven experience of managing and developing B2B sales partners for technology-based products (preferably in renewables &/or smart / connected technology products).
  • Has proven experience of managing budgets, forecasting, and delivering profitable growth.
  • Is a confident and resilient self-starter who can think ‘out the box’ to identify, develop and secure new business opportunities that closely align to both the partners’ needs and Evergreen Energy’s company mission.
  • Has highly effective account management skills.
  • Is able to analyse data, draw out findings, make recommendations and present these to senior management.
  • Is a confident speaker who can represent the company at events and consistently articulate our proposition.
  • Is a team player who can collaborate with colleagues and partners to develop innovative propositions and help get them to market in record-time, and then continuously improve thereafter.
